What do teachers and children need for their trip to Parkanaur?
Schools/groups will be provided with all necessary information with regards to times, health & safety and what schools need to bring, taking into consideration seasonal adjustments when they are booking their workshop.
Can Speedwell accommodate children with SEN?
Speedwell staff work closely with staff to accommodate the needs of their group and of individual children where possible. We have found that children with special educational needs who have participated in our workshops have responded very positively to the natural environment of Parkanaur.
How long do children spend in the forest?
We aim to spend the maximum time exploring the forest with children when they are with us, taking into consideration seasonal factors and the age and ability of the group.
Do Speedwell only accommodate shared education groups?
Speedwell accommodates both shared education groups of sometimes involving multiple schools and individual schools who wish to engage in environmental education in the forest.
Are Speedwell staff trained in first aid?
Speedwell staff have up to date training in first aid in the workplace and carry first aid kits while in the forest. We do encourage groups/ schools to bring necessary first aid equipment particular to their group and to notify staff participating of any significant needs within the group where necessary.
How do large coaches access the park/ is their parking/ is their access to food/ drinks?
A map which shows how to find us from main routes is included in information pack which Speedwell provides upon booking. There is ample parking in Parkanaur for the duration of the workshop for buses and coaches and we advise staff and children to bring a packed lunch. Speedwell staff provide tea and coffee and the nearest shop is in Castlecaulfield which is 1 mile from Parkanaur.
